Dell has just started shipping the Dell Precision M4500 notebook at a price tag of a whopping $1549. The base model is powered by an Intel Core i5-520M 2.4GHz processor and Nvidia Quadro FX880-M graphics featuring 1GB of dedicated graphics memory. The thing that doesn’t do justice to the price is the fact that this system has only 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1366x768 resolution 15.6-inch display, no webcam, no microphone, and no Wi-Fi connectivity. For all these amenities a user will have to shell out more money and this can take the price up to as high as $2500. The plus point however is the optional SSD 64GB minicard and the Precision ON technology that lets you access the e-mail, contacts, calendar, and the web almost instantly. So, if you have some extra bucks to dole out on this machine, then you can probably think of adding on the following features to the device:

  • Processor: Core i7 dual core processor or Core i7 quad core extreme edition processor
  • Display: 15.6" HD+ UltraSharp LED Display (1600x900) Resolution, 15.6" HD+ sRGB LED Back-Lit Display (1600x900) Resolution, 15.6" FHD LED Back-Lit Display (1920x1080) Resolution
  • Storage: 250GB FIPS encrypted HDD, 256GB SSD, 64GB minicard SSD
  • Camera: optional 3MP camera
  • Optional fingerprint reader

Overall, the design is quite sturdy and the device has 4 USB ports, e-Sata port, VGA port, 6-cell or 9-cell battery and a 3-year warranty.
