A portable device for e-mail and web-surfing on the moov
CeBIT 2010 was home to a variety of portable devices including the Mio Moov V780 tablet which the company conveniently calls the “premium PND”. For those of you who are not familiar with the brand Mio, here is a brief history. Mio is a subsidiary of MiTAC International Corp. Mio Technology develops and markets products which enable users to get the most from the latest car GPS navigation mobile system. The brand was established in May 2002 and now has operations in Taiwan, mainland China, Europe, North America, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
The latest device from MIO on display at CeBIT 2010 was the Moov V780 which has a sleek design with tapered edges and a smooth finish. Packed in a leather case, this device has a full keyboard and support for a virtual keyboard. It has also got a stylus to work with. The company claims it has a NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip inside it. Other features of this device are:
- 7-inch 800x480 capacitive touchscreen (no multitouch)
- 600MHz processor
- 4GB onboard memory
- Windows CE operating system
- WiFi
- Optional WiMax or 3G
- Support for HD 720p video
- 4GB or 8GB of storage expandable through a MicroSDHC slot
- HDMI port
It is an ideal product to surf the web and check emails on the go but given it's capacity the battery would not last for more than 3 hours. It is priced at 599 euros. I think at that price, it's got a smaller market. We would advice you to wait and then make a move probably when the prices come down a bit at summer end.
