A different-sounding Marvell Smartbook unveiled in CES

It is powered by the Armada
Marvell has revealed their latest smartbook during the ongoing CES at Vegas. This 12.1-inch Armada 510 powered smartbook is quite thin and looks delicious. The operating system is Ubuntu version of Linux. You might not be able to land your hands on this beauty yet as the device is for ODMs only. The smartbook has HD playback capabilities – as reported by Netbooked. Other features include a Mini HDMI port, 2x USB ports, memory card slot, and a default 4 hrs of promised battery life. At around $200 this gadget should be a steal.
Laptopmag has a hands-on description they found a few things better than even the famous Lenovo Skylight – screen size and video playback. The 1080p capability I talked about above comes out of box and apparently seamlessly.
Let’s put it this way – we are moving smaller and slimmer, and if you donot want to go down to smartphone level of display – get a smatbook instead. This CES witnessed a lot of that, and frankly, 2010 should be the year of smartbooks and tablets. Now among giants like Lenovo, smaller companies like Marvell could make a wave with huge market penetration if the promised price of $200 or less is kept.
