Overview
In a press release on Friday, the Taiwan-based computer hardware manufacturer MSI announced its latest high-performance notebook. Targeted towards business professionals on-the-go, the P600 delivers Core i5 power, dual biometric security and an overall appealing design.
Configuration
The new MSI portable computer is equipped with a 15.6-inch Glare HD widescreen display with a maximum supported resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels, which will enable users to properly enjoy 720p videos.
Furthermore, the P600 is powered by an all new 2010 Core i5 central processing unit. The press release does not reveal the exact CPU model but it will come with Intel’s Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading technologies. The first increases core frequency (if needed) and the latter makes it possible for consumers to simultaneously run several applications while keeping the system stable. Another interesting thing about the P600 is that it will pack an ultra-thin DVD Burner.
The Intel HM55 Chipset-sporting business notebook features an Intel GMA HD graphics controller along with up to 4GB of internal DDR3 memory and up to a spacious 2.5-inch 500GB mechanical hard drive.
Connectivity
MSI has pre-configured its latest creation with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/draft-N and Bluetooth 2.1 modules that will help you stay connected. In addition, there are three USB 2.0 ports (one is USB/eSATA combo), D-Sub, an HDMI interface and 2-in-1 media card reader slot.
An integrated 1.3MP web camera is also available for video conferencing.
Other specs, Pricing and Availability
The P600 will ship with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The company claims its portable business notebook weighs 2.41kg () with the built-in 8-cell battery. Moreover, the battery life is allegedly up to eight hours thanks to an ECO Engine Power Saving Technology.
The integrated fingerprint reader along with an EasyFace support (face recognition software) will reportedly provide enhanced security.
According to MSI, the P600 will come with a new and “unique” chiclet keyboard; however pricing and availability details were not disclosed in the press release.
