The elusive Asus Eee PC 1201N, available for pre-order in Italy

MidaComputer.it currently has the 1201N listed for 510 euros, but Asus is yet to confirm any further details

Netbookitalia.it has been awaiting the launch of the Asus Eee PC 1201N for some time and they were enthusiastic about their discovery on the 4th of November, that retailer MidaComputer.it, had recently started to list the 1201N in silver for 510 euros.

According to MidaComputer.it, the 1201N has the following specifications:

Display: 11.6 inch

Processor: Intel Atom N330

Hard drive: 320 GB

RAM: 3 GB

GPU: Shared VGA

OS: Windows 7 Premium Edition


The source of the original and apparently leaked specifications for the 1201N, Eeepc.it have removed the detailed sheet from their website, because the specifications had not yet been confirmed by Asus officially. The Asus US support site, however, contains an entry for the 1201N in its pages, which can be seen here. Therefore, the 1201N is unlikely to be a myth, however its specifications are still a mystery; here are the previously posted details on the machine, as found on mini-laptop-notebook.com:-

MidaComputer.it fails to reveal the full specification of the product they are apparently selling, although as the item is on pre-order, according to Netbookchoice.com, then perhaps they are not fully aware of the specification yet either. Blogeee.net have posted a specification sheet for the 1201N, which is apparently destined for the French market, the details of this model differ from its Italian counterpart slightly. The French model appears only in black and has just 2GB of DDR2 RAM.


The Asus EEE PC 1201N, appears to be a powerful competitor for its size, with the Intel Atom Dual-Core N330 and the GeForce 9400M, which scores 108 on our GPU benchmark list. No one seems to have a release date yet, but the speculation from many sources implies that the 1201N's arrival could be imminent.
