Archos, the French consumer electronics company which manufactures portable media players and portable storage devices is getting ready to launch a new and improved version of the Archos MID which would run on the Google Android platform. The device is said to be unveiled on June 11th at a company press conference. The new Archos MID would support a range of connectivity options including Wi-Fi, 3G, HSDPA, and HSUPA. The company is said to market it as an Internet tablet rather than a MID. The screen is a 5-inch display with HD resolution compatibility which is powered by TI’s OMAP 3 processor which is to be used in the Palm Pre.
It is also believed that it might just have telephony support. Moreover, the Android OS would allow users to download custom made third party applications from the Android market application store. It is also believed that the device would offer support for Adobe Flash and would be capable of playing videos for about 7 hours. For confirmed specifications we would have to wait for the official announcement which is expected to be made this June.
