Price of flash memory rises
The requirement of NAND flash memory is very high because of the use in the SSD drives (e.g., in many new low cost notebooks). Therefore, the price of the modules is rising.
The internet Newsportal Digitimes reported, that the price of NAND flash modules increased. The flash chips got a rise in prices by 10 to 16 percent, because many manufacturers like Dell, Acer and HP are going to launch their own low cost notebook.
Those low budget laptops are equipped with solid state drives and the disk size is mostly between 1 GB and 8 GB. Therefore, one notebook needs 8 to 10 NAND chips.
If the requirement of flash chips continues rising and the amount of low cost notebooks reaches the 20 million mark, then the manufacturers will need 200 to 300 million NAND modules. Those mass of flash chips would be 8 percent of the overall production.
