Tongfong announces S30A ultraportable notebook featuring VIA Nano
The S30A offers high-fashion design, leading-edge multimedia features, and advanced processing power
Tongfong Co. Ltd., a leading PC OEM in China, has just announced a 13.3-inch thin and light notebook that will be powered by the VIA Nano processor. The S30A as it is called will run on a high performance 64-bit 1.3GHz Via Nano U2250 processor, which is also power efficient. The VIA Nano processor is coupled with the VIA VX800 system media processor with support for high definition video and audio playback, and up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory. It also features the S3 Graphics Chrome 435 ULP which provides the necessary hardware acceleration for leading video standards like H.264, MPEG-4, VC-1, WMV-HD, and AVS. This being DirectX 10 certified delivers the most enriching video experience.
Tongfong’s Vice President and General Manager of their Computer Group, Mr. Li Jianhang is of the opinion that the S30A will provide the perfect blend of high-fashion design, leading-edge multimedia features, and excellent battery life. It is a mere 33mm thick and weighs just 1.4kg. For storage it has a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive and DVD super multi-drive. Other features include:
· 10/100Mbps Ethernet and 802.11b/g wireless
· 4-in 1 card reader, Express card slot
· 2GB RAM
· Two USB 2.0 ports
· HDMI and VGA ports
· Option of Windows Vista or Windows XP operating system
The Tongfong S30A comes with a six cell battery and has an option for an additional three cell battery that can be inserted in place of the optical drive for extended mobile scenarios. The company has not yet disclosed the pricing and availability for this model.
