Supply of 8.9” displays may run short

Many manufacturers offer notebooks with 8.9” display, and therefore a bottleneck in supply of those panels could take place.

The internet newssite Digitimes report that the need of 8.9” displays is rising and therefore a supply shortfall could happen. This could take place in the second half of the year because manufacturers like Asus, Acer, Dell and HP are offering or will offer such notebooks.

If the manufacturers can sell as much notebooks as they want to, then this shortage could take place. They want to sell about 15 million low-cost notebooks and there are only about 14.5 million 8.9” displays available.
