Kingston SSD
Kingston working on SSD drives with Intel’s help
Memory maker Kingston teams up with chipmaker Intel to supply SSD drives. SSD technology is expected to increase in popularity due to its superior shock resistance, lower power consumption, and ability to be operated in harsher environments than normal HDDs. However the main problem is the high price. Once the price falls we expect to see more SSDs in notebooks. Although Kingston entered into SSD market, it expects to remain dedicated to the flash storage and media market.
The Kingston-branded SSDs will begin shipping before the end of 2008. It is not known if Kingston will eventually sell SSDs directly to consumers.
