MSI launches 16-inch, 16:9 VR630 notebook

MSI has officially introduced a new laptop, the 16-inch VR630. The new laptop is powered by an AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core mobile processor in conjunction with the NVIDIA MCP77MV (GeForce 8200M G) chipset. The 16-inch screen with 1366x768 pixels features a movie and gaming-friendly 16:9 aspect ratio. The system can be equipped with a maximum of 4GB of memory and a high-capacity SATA hard drive to deliver up to 320GB of storage. Other technical specifications include an integrated GeForce 8200M G graphics processor, 3-in-1 card reader, a DVD Super Multi optical drive, 1.3MP webcam, a HD Audio with 2 built-in stereo speakers, Gigabit Etherent, wireless 802.11 b/g/n, 3x USB, and a 6-cell or a 9-cell battery option.

According to MSI, the VR630 has a unique power saving function (ECO Engine) which allows user to extend the battery running time while performing different tasks. By pressing on the ECO touch sensor repeatedly, you can switch among the 5 different modes – Gaming mode, Movie mode, Presentation mode, Office mode, and Turbo Battery mode (the low speed modes usually downclock the CPU).

The overall weight of the VR630 is somewhere around 2.54kg (with battery).

The MSI VR630 is available in Europe with a starting price from €430 ($576).
