Both models reportedly feature NVIDIA’s Optimus technology and a 2010 Intel Core processor

In the latest issue of its eMagazine, the Taiwan-based corporation, ASUS, has reportedly showed two new thin and light notebooks. The U30Jc and U33Jc come with the NVIDIA Optimus Technology, which allows switching between integrated and dedicated graphics.

Both systems have an aluminum exterior and pack a chiclet keyboard with the U33Jc also sporting one USB 3.0 port.

This model is powered by an Intel Core i3-350M central processing unit with a clock speed of 2.26GHz. The thin and light laptop can feature up to an Intel Core i7-620M CPU, clocked at 2.66GHz (up to 3.33GHz with Turbo Boost Technology). Furthermore, the ultra-portable computer is equipped with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit LCD display with a maximum supported resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels, which makes it possible for customers to enjoy the full potential of 720p HD videos.

The U30Jc ships with up to 4GB of internal DDR3 memory and up to a 640GB mechanical hard drive (HDD) that rotates at 5400RPM. This particular system comes with two graphics controllers – an integrated Intel GMA HD and a NVIDIA GeForce 310M with 512MB of dedicated VRAM.  Users can switch between video cards thanks to NVIDIA’s Optimus Technology (you can read our review of NVIDIA Optimus here). Also available is a built-in compact DVD Burner (up to a Blu-Ray Combo optical drive).

In terms of connectivity, the U30Jc features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n adapter, an optional WiMAX module and a 0.3MP web camera for video conferencing.

Consumers are provided with the same choice of Core i3/i5/i7 processors and the same 13.3-inch HD LED backlit display (1366x768 pixels). Nevertheless, the U33Jc can handle up to 8GB of DDR3 memory and reportedly has the typical stylish design of company’s Bamboo Collection. Moreover, this model is equipped with one high-speed USB 3.0 port that allegedly delivers ten times faster data transfer rate than the USB 2.0 but does not pack an optical drive.

The NVIDIA Optimus Technology lets you switch between the same graphics cards (Intel GMA HD and NVIDIA GeForce 310M). In addition, there is a built-in 2MP web camera for video calls.

Other specs

Both systems will allegedly come with up to a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit operating system. ASUS promises a weight of 2kg/4.4 lbs (U30Jc) and 1.7kg/3.75lbs (U33Jc with an 8-cell battery).
