Gigabyte shows its new M1405 notebook at 2010 Taipei Game Show

This laptop will come with a Docking Station and will presumably start shipping after the 2010 CeBit

Gigabyte has allegedly added a new member to its line-up of ultra-thin and portable notebooks. The M1405 is, as CNET Asia describes it, the “sleeker” version of the previously announced M1305 and sports some new features.

Not much has changed and specs wise the M1405 is similar to its predecessor. The central processing unit is an ultra-low voltage Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 with a clock speed of 1.3GHz. Reportedly, users can overclock this CPU by approximately 20 percent without voiding the warranty. In addition, the M1405 is equipped with a 14-inch LED HD ready display with a resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels.

The device houses up to 4GB of internal DDR3 memory and up to a spacious 500GB hard drive, which rotates at 5400RPM. The M1405 sports an Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics controller and an NVIDIA GeForce GT220 with 1GB of discrete DDR3 video memory. The dedicated graphics card is located in the Docking Station. Customers are also provided with a Slim-Body DVD Burner.

According to CNET Asia, the new ultra-portable laptop will feature two batteries with total of 9 cells which will provide longer runtime. Despite the larger display (the M1305 comes with a 13-inch panel) it has the same size and weight as the M1305 because Gigabyte has supposedly managed to make the monitor frame slimmer.

Gigabyte’s new ultra-thin notebook will come with a Windows 7 operating system and a docking station, which houses six USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, DVI interface and GeForce GT220.

The company has allegedly aimed this product not only at consumers who would like to carry around a light and thin laptop but also at gaming and multimedia enthusiasts.

The official launch of the M1405 is expected to take place at CeBIT later this year.
