The latter will supposedly sport latest NVIDIA ION graphics processor
Overview
The Taiwan-based computer hardware manufacturer Gigabyte has allegedly announced two new netbooks that will add to the company’s line-up of ultra-portable mini-laptops. The M1000C and M1000N will come with an “innovative” docking design (docking station might be optional in some regions) and the new Atom N470 CPU.
Configuration
Gigabyte M1000C
This mini-notebook is equipped with a 10.1-inch TFT LCD LED-backlit display with a maximum supported resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels. As mentioned above, customers are provided with Intel’s new Atom N470 central processing unit, which has a clock frequency of 1.83GHz.
The M1000C features an Intel GMA 3150 graphics controller with shared video memory. Furthermore, the netbook comes with one DDR2 memory slot (up to 2GB of internal memory) and 250GB (up to 320GB) of storage capacity in form of a 2.5-inch SATA rotating hard drive.
Gigabyte M1000N
This particular model packs the same CPU and display but will reportedly sport an NVIDIA ION 2 graphics. Moreover, the M1000N will ship with an integrated DVD Burner and HDMI interface.
Connectivity
Both models will let you stay connected thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR modules. In addition, the new Gigabyte netbooks are equipped with an integrated 3.5G antenna, as well as two USB 2.0 ports, one USB/eSATA combo, 4-in-1 card reader slot and docking ports. A 1.3MP web camera is available to consumers for video calls.
The Docking Station itself comes with three additional USB ports, D-SUB, RJ-45 and jacks for microphone and headphones.
Other specs, Pricing and Availability
Both models will supposedly run a copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Starter operating system. Furthermore, customers will be able to take advantage of the multi-touch enabled touchpad and a chiclet-style keyboard. Gigabyte promises a weight of 1.26 – 1.3kg (2.78 – 2.87lbs) depending on whether you purchase a 4-cell or a 6-cell-sporting M1000 netbook.
In terms of security and backup, these mini-notebooks are equipped with a Kensington lock and an easy backup support called XPRESS Recovery.
Allegedly, the M1000C and M1000N will be available for order in April – May of this year for a yet undisclosed price.
