Apple is going to disable support for Intel Atom processor in the latest Mac OS X 10.6.2

The Latest news related to Apple comes from users at OS X Daily, they say that Apple has tweaked the Mac OS X version 10.6.2 and disabled support for the Intel Atom processor, preventing unauthorized PC netbooks from running the operating system.

The news is another example of Apple fending off systems with unauthorized installs of Mac OS X. This move is Apple's attempt at shutting down the growing and popular Hackintosh Netbook community. Until and unless the community comes up with a way to tweak Atom-blocking out of future versions of the OS users will never be able to run the OS X on their Atom based machines.

Mac OS X 10.6.2, the forthcoming update for Snow Leopard, will update nearly 150 components of the operating system. The latest beta, released last week, addressed issues with the Dock, ColorSync, QuartzCore, and graphic driver components.

This update was all the more important due to the fact that a busy community of Hackintosh creators, many of whom turn to humble Atom-based netbooks such as the MSI Wind for use as donor machines for OS X.

And this meant loss in business for Apple as no official Apple products use the low-cost, low-power chip from Intel. For now, users on unauthorized Atom machines are recommended to stay with Mac OS X 10.6.1. Current advice to Hackintosh users is to stick with OS X 10.6.1 and wait for the developer community to tweak Atom-blocking out of future versions of the OS.
