Overview

According to a press release, the Taiwan-based computer hardware manufacturer, MSI, has introduced a new member to its line-up of light and thin laptops. The X-Slim X360 packs some cool features and delivers an appealing design with a Color Film Print and MSI’s exclusive rhombic pattern.

Configuration

This new product is powered by an Intel Core i5-520UM (32nm) central processing unit with a clock speed of 1.06GHz. It is an ultra-low voltage Nehalem-based processor and thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology its clock frequency goes up to 1.86GHz. The Hyper-Threading Technology allegedly allows the CPU to simultaneously handle four threads and thus preventing the system from becoming unstable.

Furthermore, the X360 comes with an integrated Intel HD (45nm) graphics controller and is equipped with a 13-inch HD Glare display that has a maximum resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels.

Customers will be able to purchase this ultra-slim laptop with up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and up to a 500GB 2.5-inch SATA hard drive.

Connectivity

The new MSI X-Slim notebook sports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/draft N and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR modules that let you stay connected. In addition, there are two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI interface, D-Sub, RJ-45 and 2-in-1 media card reader slot.

For video conferencing, users are provided with two stereo speakers and a 1.3MP web camera.

Other specs, Pricing and Availability

MSI will ship the X360 with a pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The company also promises up to 9 hours of battery life on single charge of the built-in 4-cell battery (up to an 8-cell battery). Reportedly, the thickness of the new ultra-thin and portable notebook is less than one inch and its weight is approximately 1.4kg (3.07lbs).

There is an exclusive software package, which includes MSI EasyViewer (3D image display), which lets you view and edit your photos, as well as MSI EasyFace (face identification software) for enhanced security.

Pricing and availability are yet to be announced.
