Supposedly, the manufacturer Intel wants to bring new solid state drives on the market, which provide high reading and writing speeds.
The internet news site Expreview presented an Intel roadmap which describes the production of solid state drives. Some of them will be available in 2008.
The SSD X25-E provides a reading speed of 240 MB/s and a writing speed of 170 MB/s. It offers a disk size of 32 GB and 64 GB and will be available in the 4th quarter of 2008.
The X25-M and the X18-M need less power that its bigger brother, but they also read data with 240 MB/s. Their writing speed is lower and reaches only 70 MB/s.
The X25-M and the X18-M provide capacities of 80 GB and 160 GB, and both drives with 80 GB will be available in the 3rd quarter of this year. The X18-M with 160 GB will be available at the beginning of 2009 and the X25-M with 160 GB will be available in the 4th quarter of 2008.
