A South Korean Tech forum post claims that Intel's 12th-generation Alder Lake processors are 40% slower than initially anticipated. It also says that Intel's Xe DG2 HPG graphics cards will come with at least 6GB of VRAM and cost less than Nvidia and AMD alternatives.

Information about Intel's upcoming Alder Lake line of processors is still relatively scarce. Leaks suggest that we could see a 20% IPC uplift in single-threaded workloads and double the multi-threaded performance in some workloads. However, that information was sourced from alleged Intel marketing material, so it's best to treat it with scepticism. A new post from South Korean tech forums Clien suggests that Alder Lake processors could be 40% slower than earlier anticipated.

However, the post is devoid of specifics, such as the processor model and the hardware that it is being compared against. Furthermore, some benchmarks have trouble properly recognizing Alder Lake's hybrid core configuration. Even with 40% reduced performance, we're still looking at double-digit IPC gains across the board.

The post also talks about Intel's Xe DG2 HPG line of graphics cards. It tells us that the entry-level model will come with at least 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM. It contradicts an earlier leak, which stated that at least three SKUs would ship with 4GB VRAM. The entry-level SKU is expected to be significantly cheaper than similarly-specced AMD and Nvidia models. Its mining performance is abysmal, too.

While Clien has been reasonably accurate with some of its previous leaks, the forums have had a history of being wrong, too. Therefore, we should treat this information with a healthy dose of scepticism. Alder Lake marks the beginning of an entirely new CPU architecture, and we can't possibly expect it to come without a hiccup or two.
