New 3DMark benchmark coming next Monday
Futuremark today announced that the new version of their popular PC benchmark, 3DMark, will be released next week. The new benchmark includes support for DirectX 9, 10 and 11 and is also the first version to support multiple platforms.
Starting at 18:00 UTC on next Monday, 3DMark will be made available for Windows 8. The benchmark will now record FPS, GPU and CPU temperatures as well as CPU power and clock speed while running the benchmark. In addition, results are displayed as an interactive graph, allowing users to follow their results stepwise through the testing.
For the time being, only the Windows version will be released; however, Android, iOS, and Windows RT versions are in the pipeline pending testing and app store approval. Futuremark will release a free Basic Edition for all platforms, but paid Advanced and Professional Editions will also be available.
