New 12.1-inch Lenovo Yoga Book spotted on Amazon
Lenovo's original 10.1-inch Yoga Book was praised as innovative and courageous despite its rough execution. Its sleek, premium design and build quality combined with the haptic-touch keyboard made it stand out in a sea of convertibles. Now, despite no official word from Lenovo, a larger 12.2-inch Yoga Book has shown up on retailer Amazon.
Despite being larger, this bigger brother of the Yoga Book is actually cheaper (US$299) in design and components. The original Yoga Book cost US$499 with Android and packed 4GB of ram, 64GB of eMMC storage, and an FHD screen. While the CPU is still the same Atom x5, this 12.2-inch model has only 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 1280 x 800 resolution display. Specs aren't the only change made in cutting costs, though: the beautiful watchband hinge of the original Yoga Book, one if its finest design points, has been replaced by a pair of equally functional (but less graceful) hinges. One interesting addition seems to be waterproofing, which is hinted at with a photo of the device showing droplets of water on it.
This version costs US$299 for the listed Android version, but it's likely a Windows version will also be available for an extra US$50 as before. Hopefully, Lenovo has also made software/firmware enhancements to its CreatePad and touch-keyboard to improve upon the original, which left much to be desired.
