The two Android 5.0 Lollipop slates go on sale in Japan today, both offering mid-range specs for a good price.

NEC Personal Computer has just added two new slates to the LAVIE Tab E family, namely the TE508 and TE510. Both can be purchased in Japan starting today and come loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop, offering mid-range specs for a moderate price.

The smaller NEC LAVIE Tab E TE508 has a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT8161 processor helped by 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage (supplemented by a microSD slot). Its 8-inch display has 1,280X800 pixels while the generous 4290 mAh battery offers up to 8 hours of Web browsing or 7 hours of video playback on a single charge. Just as expected, this tablet comes with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB for charging and data transfers. Although it sports two cameras, they are less than optimal, offering 2 MP (front) and 5 MP (back).

NEV LAVIE Tab E TE510 is a 10-inch slate with a Full HD IPS display, MediaTek MT8165 processor, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage (microSD slot also present). It has a generous 7000 mAh power pack that provides up to 12 hours of autonomy while browsing the Web. The cameras offer 5 MP and 8 MP while connectivity is standard - WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB.

The 8-inch LAVIE Tab E TE508 is only available in white and has a price of roughly $185 USD, while the TE510 costs about $270 USD and has a single color choice available as well (blue navy). International availability and pricing have not been announced yet.
