Allegedly, Huawei's upcoming flagship phablet will use in-house Kirin 930 octa-core SoC, a QHD display and a 21 MP camera sensor from Sony.

Following Huawei's announcement of its Ascend Mate 7 phablet at IFA 2014, rumors started to circulate about the Chinese manufacturer's next flagship, the Mate 8. First information surfaced at the end of January and more has been added today.

Reportedly, the Mate 8 will be based on Huawei's octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 930 64-bit SoC which is already used in the MediaPad X2 and the freshly announced MediaPad M2. It will include ARM Mali-T628 MP4 graphics unit. It's expected that 3 GB of RAM will be installed to match competing flagships from Samsung and HTC. Instead of a Full HD display found on the Mate 7, Mate 8 will use a QHD (2560x1440 pixels) screen but will retain the 6 inch diagonal. A 1/2.3" Sony Exmor RS IMX220 sensor will be utilized for the main 20.7 MP camera.

Other rumored specifications include a fingerprint scanner, a high-capacity battery, support for LTE Cat.6 and a high-quality sound chip with two noise-cancelling microphones.
