Microsoft announces on the CES in Las Vegas that the Surface Book can be pre-ordered in Germany from January 5th 2016. It will be sold by the Microsoft Store as well by several online shops.

The Microsoft Surface Book introduced on October 6th 2015 and already available in the USA from October, is supposed to be available to customers in Germany now, too. In addition, the device can also be pre-ordered in Austria and Switzerland from January 5th. It is offered by Microsoft's online shop and by the online shops Cyberport, Notebooksbilliger, Media Markt Online, Saturn Online, Amazon, and Otto.

The following configurations are available in Germany:

  • Surface Book i5 (Intel HD Graphics/8GB/128GB)
  • Surface Book i5 (NVIDIA GeForce/8GB/256GB)
  • Surface Book i7 (NVIDIA GeForce/8GB/256GB)
  • Surface Book i7 (NVIDIA GeForce/16GB/512GB)

All variants come with Windows 10 Pro.

In our review of the Core i5 model with dedicated NVIDIA graphics card, we could already gain a comprehensive view of the device. With a total rating of 85 %, the Surface Book can currently be considered one of the best convertibles. We especially liked the excellent build quality and the contrast-rich, bright display in unusual 3:2 format. However, the lack of a USB Type-C port and the quite high price point are a bit unfortunate.
