Microsoft Office for iPad could be released soon

Teaser
Leaked images supposedly show Microsoft Office running on an iPad, while Microsoft denies rumor

There have been rumblings over the past few months about the possibility of an official Microsoft Office application for Apple’s iPad, and we may now have physical evidence of the app.

According to sources of The DailyMicrosoft has already submitted an Office app to Apple and is currently awaiting approval. The newspaper also claims to have spent some brief time with the app and noted its similarity to the currently available OneNote. Furthermore, as evidenced by the image, the app appears to be heavily styled using Microsoft’s Windows 8 Metro theme and includes support for Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

Sadly, Microsoft doesn’t appear to be corroborating the rumor so far, and a spokeswoman informed The New York Times Bits that “The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation”. Of course, Microsoft could simply be posturing in order to reveal the app on their own timetable, and with the Mobile World Congress in Spain coming up next week we might not have too long of a wait.
