1800-nit brightness? 10,000:1 contrast? It all sounds a little out there, but the Meizu Pro 7 might surprise us in the end. The way it implements its 4K screen will be particularly exciting to observe.

Renders and more detailed specifications of Meizu’s upcoming flagship Pro 7 phablet have appeared and there are a number of enticing features that will help the device stand out in a crowded market. Among them is the 4K display, which is not a feature that many phones have adopted yet other than rare exceptions like the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

Meizu’s device will have a 5.7-inch display, a deca-core MediaTek Helio X30 chipset and a 12MP Sony IMX362 rear-facing camera. The source, which takes the form of a batch of slick marketing materials, provides plenty of information emphasizing the quality of the screen such as the 10,000:1 contrast ratio and the capability of cranking the screen up to a blinding brightness of 1,800 nits. As an added bonus, the materials also say that the display covers 153% of the NTSC color gamut. In the unlikely event that all of these details are accurate, the screen might even give premium flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S8 a run for their money.

The phone will come in three variants: one with 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage, another with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and a high-end variant with 8GB RAM and also with 128GB storage. In addition, storage can be increased with a microSD card. The 4GB RAM version will cost $479, the 6GB RAM version will cost $523, and the premium 8GB RAM model will cost $550.
