Looking back at 2009, AMD's attempted to make notebooks rather sexy with the release of the ultra-portable Yukon and Congo platforms. AMD's Tigris notebook platform has intrinsic technological merit that needs to be realised quickly. MSI's CR610 large-screen notebook is a decent example of the technology, and should garner interest if released soon and priced below competing solutions featuring Intel's Centrino platform.

Blu-ray compatibility at a great price, but poor usability and performance. Overall, the CR610-013UK is a competent entry-level media centre and its combination of a stunning screen and Blu-ray compatibility is a rare find at this price. Unfortunately, its poor usability and limited performance prevent it from achieving our highest recommendation.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI), is a Taiwan based computer hardware manufacturer since 1986 best known for desktop computer motherboards. MSI also designs and manufactures graphics cards, barebone PCs, notebook computers, networking products, servers, multimedia, consumer electronics, and storage devices. MSI, as most Taiwanese computer manufacturers, sells products on OEM/ODM basis. It also sells products worldwide based on its own brand name "MSI". The market share of laptops with the MSI brand is rather low.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Radeon HD 4200: Onboard graphics adapter (RS880M chipset) with UVD2 (PIP support) and DX 10.1 support (compared to the older HD 3200). Beware, possibly no 2D acelleration in Windows XP (as the HD3200).

AMD Athlon X2:
L310:
Netbook CPU from AMD with two cores and a slightly better performance than the Intel Atom CPU. Supports 64 Bit and Virtualization.
AMD Athlon II:
M300:
Entry level dual core CPU by AMD which features an integrated memory controller (400MHz DDR2) and is based (partially?) on the K10 core. The performance should be compareable to an old Merom based 1.8 Core 2 Duo. The CPU supports 64 Bit and Virtualization.
16.0: 16 inch display-variants exist since 2008 and partially got the market share of 15 inch notebooks. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.5 kg:
This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
2.5 kg:
82.5%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
