Xiaomi has rolled back the MIUI 12 upgrade for the Redmi 9, which the company began issuing late last month. In its place comes a fresh version of MIUI 11. The new update is rolling out to handsets now.

It has been a few weeks since Xiaomi began issuing MIUI 12 to the Redmi 9. The company only issued the upgrade to Chinese handsets and carried the build number V12.0.1.0.QJCCNXM. The rollout did not go well though as Xiaomi has now rolled the Chinese branch of MIUI back to MIUI 11.

Now, Chinese handsets are receiving V11.0.5.0.QJCCNXM, which brings them into line with devices on the European, Russian and Global versions of MIUI. It is unclear why Xiaomi dropped V12.0.1.0.QJCCNXM, but we suspect that bugs were the cause of its demise. We imagine that the MIUI 12 update is not far off though considering that it has already been released once for the Redmi 9.

V11.0.5.0.QJCCNXM brings a few changes to the Redmi 9, including increased system stability and reduced system lag. The update is arriving as an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade and is hitting handsets now. Alternatively, you can download the build from the link below, which is hosted on Xiaomi's servers. Please note that it is a 2.0 GB download.
