Lenovo announces the Miix2 8-inch Windows tablet

The slate comes with Windows 8.1 and Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013, being powered by a quad-core Bay Trail-T Intel Atom S processor.

Today Lenovo launches the Miix2 8-inch Windows tablet, a slate that offers impressive specs for its price. This new tablet packs a quad-core Intel processor and a 16:10 ratio IPS wide angle display, as well as a slimmer case than the original Lenovo Miix despite its superior features. 

The Lenovo Miix2 comes with the following hardware and software specs:

  • Processor: quad-core Intel Bay Trail-T Atom S with Intel HD Graphics (Gen7) featuring Clear Video HD 
  • Memory/Storage: unspecified yet; up to 128 GB eMMC onboard and microSD support up to 32 GB
  • Display: 8-inch WXGA multitouch with 1,280X800 pixels
  • Cameras: 2 MP front, 5 MP back
  • Connectivity: WiFi, Bluetooth, micro USB, micro HDMI
  • Optional accessories: capacitive stylus and cover case that can also double as a stand
  • Weight/Thickness: 0.77 pounds; 0.33 inches
  • Operating system/Preloaded software: Windows 8.1; Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013

According to Lenovo's press release, "The Miix2 8-inch will be available later this month beginning at approximately $299." This is expected to be the price of the 32 GB version, while the 64 GB Miix2 should be priced at $349. Detailed information on specs, pricing and availability should become available later this month.
