Lenovo IdeaPad 500S-13ISK
The Lenovo IdeaPad 500S is a thin and light high-performance laptop designed for everyday use. Its chassis is largely from metal and it is lightweight at merely 1.52 kg. Beneath the hood, it is powered by an Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3 GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and a 500 GB hybrid drive. Together with an Intel HD Graphics 520, the Full HD IPS panel (1920 x 1080 pixels) makes for rich graphic experience. Standard connectivity is available on this machine with three USB ports (two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port), a Gigabit Ethernet port and an HDMI port for video output. These ports are strategically located on the sides with no interface both on the front or the rear of the machine. Networking is supported by both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The white-backlit keyboard provides light for use under low-lit conditions and the ClickPad is equally responsive. Sound quality is loud and clear on its stereo speakers with Dolby Home Theater. The Windows 10 system delivers a decent battery life of up to 7 hours.Specifications

Eye-catcher. Lenovo's new 13.3-inch subnotebook attracts attention not only with technical highlights such as a current Intel Skylake processor, but also with its red casing. Our test reveals whether the IdeaPad 500S is a practical everyday companion beyond that.

Pushing its luck? Lenovo has presented us a 14-inch lightweight laptop, that aims to be an ultra-mobile high-end device with a ULV Core i7 and GeForce 940M. On the whole, the plan proves to be successful - however, the display does not meet this claim at all.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on some Skylake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
NVIDIA GeForce 940M: Mid-range graphics card of the GeForce 900M series, based on the Maxwell architecture.

Intel Core i5:
6200U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6500U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

75.9%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
