Lenovo E475/E575: Affordable ThinkPads with AMD Bristol Ridge Pro inside
Traditionally, business notebooks are mostly powered by Intel CPUs. In recent years HP was the biggest supporter of AMD in this segment. HP´s biggest competitor Lenovo on the other hand has a fairly limited set of AMD equipped models. The company mostly offers more affordable lines with AMD APUs as well. Today, Lenovo and AMD have introduced the newest addition to Lenovo´s affordable business line with AMD APUs, the ThinkPad E475 and E575.
Both models are based on AMDs new Bristol Ridge Pro platform. AMD wants to rival Intels dominance in the business sector by offering cheaper CPUs with AMD DASH. AMD DASH is the equivalent to Intels vPro feature, and important managing feature for big companies. Intel only offers select Core i5 and i7 CPUs with vPro, AMD will also offer low-end chips with DASH.
The ThinkPad E475 and E575 are based on the same chassis as the Intel powered models ThinkPad E470 and E570. Aside from the different processors, Lenovo also uses a different GPU: E470 and E570 are offered with Nvidia GeForce chips, E475 and E575 are powered by an optional Radeon R5 M430.
The new notebooks will be available on the 7th of November. No starting price has been announced so far.
