Leak points to a possible HTC One tablet

Teaser
The device looks almost exactly like an up-scaled version of HTC's flagship smartphone

HTC has been having a hard time this year. Despite launching what is (arguably) one of the top two Android smartphones of 2013 (HTC One), the Taiwanese company has been facing increasing financial difficulties.

The leaked photo leaves little doubt that the device is inspired by the HTC One. It is nearly identical to the flagship phone and shares its characteristic front-facing speakers, though it has been scaled up to what looks like an 8- or 10-inch format.

There is a good chance the One tablet is a mockup or even an imitation by a low cost Chinese manufacturer (possibly the Ramos K1 tablet). However, it is also possible that HTC is trying (again) to spin the success of their smartphone into additional revenue, as it already has with the HTC One Mini and the upcoming HTC One Max.

The company's first attempt at a tablet (the HTC Flyer) was generally perceived as a disaster. The risks involved in another attempt at entering the competitive Android tablet market certainly add to the likelihood of the One tablet being a hoax. Even if it is a real prototype, the final form of a consumer device could be significantly different, though a tablet with BoomSound would certainly have its appeal.
