The LIVALL PikaBoost electric bike converter will shortly begin crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The 3 kg (~6.6 lbs) device is billed as suitable for all bicycles and can be mounted without needing tools. The 234 Wh battery can provide full assistance for 30 km (~18 miles) and can be recharged via a regenerative system.

LIVALL will begin a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the PikaBoost electric bike converter shortly. The product is described as an electric bike booster which can be mounted tool-free between your bicycle’s seat post and wheel to power the bike. The gadget is suitable for various surfaces, with an IP66 waterproof rating and an integrated terrain change detection system. The device can auto-maintain an average speed determined by the terrain and your power output, providing additional assistance during steep inclines.

You can select from three riding modes, including Sport mode, which adds more resistance to push you to pedal harder. Plus, a built-in regenerative system uses a downhill stretch to boost its power, providing an ‘unlimited battery’ life. The company claims that the gadget is eco-friendly thanks to this mechanism which means you do not need to charge the 234 Wh power pack via a wall outlet. Fully charged, the battery can provide up to 30 km (~18 miles) of assistance range. Other smart features include an auto-sensing red light, which switches on when it detects you are slowing down or can be set to provide constant light in the dark.

A wireless Bluetooth lock reduces the risk of your PikaBoost being stolen, and built-in fall and smart slip detection help to keep you safe. LIVALL claims that the gadget is compatible with any bike, measuring 660 x 338 x 130 mm (~26.0 x 13.3 x 5.1-in) and weighing 3 kg (~6.6 lbs). Customers who sign up to LIVALL’s mailing list can get a LIMITED Super Early Bird reward, allowing them to purchase the PikaBoost for US$299; that is equivalent to a 49% discount off the US$599 MSRP.
