LG's 2018 flagship has made its first appearance in the flesh. The purported render of the device reveals an evolution of the G6 design with even thinner top, bottom and side bezels.

The LG G7 has surfaced in renders ahead of its anticipated April launch. The renders reveal a device that looks like the natural evolution of last year’s G6 from a design perspective. The 18:9 display ratio appears to be preserved, while the bezels continue to do a vanishing act as they recede ever closer to the edges of the device.

Also apparent in the render is that LG looks to have switched to a dual-front facing camera arrangement for the 2018 model. Given LG’s approach to dual-rear camera facing cameras, we can reasonably expect that one will take standard selfies and the other wide-angle group selfies. Although the Snapdragon 845 hasn’t been confirmed for the device, the G7 is scheduled to launch after the Galaxy S9 range, which should ensure that LG has access to so Qualcomm’s top chip for 2018 to ensure it remains on a competitive footing.

LG’s well-received G6 suffered from launching with a Snapdragon 821 in a year when most top Android flagship devices sported the Snapdragon 835. It’s ongoing struggles with trying to turn a profit from its smartphone division also saw LG executives reveal at CES that the company is switching to a release cycle that may result in less frequent, and non-annual, upgrades or releases of its smartphones. The company used CES to reveal that it is also re-thinking its “G” branding for smartphones.
