LG G Pad 8.3

Despite its low price tag, the build of the LG G Pad 8.3 is in no way compromised. The mixture of aluminum and plastic alongside toughened glass makes the LG G Pad 8.3 feel very solid and robust. The 8.3 inch screen is also noteworthy. The 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution provides crystal clear full HD displays. For its price, this is certainly above expectations.

The LG G Pad 8.3 runs on a 1.7 GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 processor, which may not be the fastest, but is certainly not slow. Coupled with 2 GB of RAM, the LG G Pad 8.3 provides smooth and seamless usage, lag-free. High requirement games can be played without much issues.

The 4800 mAh battery lets the device run for roughly 7 hours with moderate usage. This isn't something extremely great, but it's a nice thing to have. Sadly, the software of the LG G Pad 8.3 is a little outdated, such as the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

In short, the LG G Pad 8.3 excels in most common criteria for judging a tablet. It may not have the best software, but this can be tweaked. The important thing is that LG got the hardware right. Furthermore, the tablet supports 4G LTE, which is a neat feature to have.

Smartphone genes. LG promises that you will find many features of the LG G2 in the G Pad 8.3. The smartphone got a "very good" in our review at that time. Now we want to know how well the tablet derivative does.
77% LG G Pad 8.3 review: Good-value 8.3-inch Android (4.2) tablet

The G Pad 8.3 is a well-thought-out tablet. Some may find the software extras a bit much, but there's a lot of utility in there. The hardware spec, like the device as a whole, is good value for money.

Verizon LG G Pad 8.3 LTE review
Source: Androidcommunity.com English Archive.org version
As we mentioned earlier in the review, the LG G Pad 8.3 LTE serves as a nice middle ground for those who want something between the 7 and 10 inch form factors. This one offers a bit more screen real estate and manages to keep things in a form factor that is still easy to hold with one hand. Not to mention, the display, day to day performance and battery life left us with little reason for concern or worry. In fact, we've suggested this device to a few family members that had been asking about tablets. At present Verizon has the LG G Pad 8.3 LTE selling at $199.99 on a two-year agreement. Bottom line, we've liked the WiFi only models of the LG G Pad 8.3, and like it even better as a Verizon connected model.

Overall, however, the benefits do outweigh the flaws, and hopefully this is a product that will continue to improve in the next revision. And with rumours that LG could be manufacturing the next Nexus tablet, it’s a strong sign of things to come.

The LG G Pad 8.3 was never going to win as much attention, or sell as many units, as a rival from Samsung or Apple. However, as with the LG G2, LG deserves some praise for making a sensibly-priced, solid tablet that can stand tall next to virtually any rival. Its software needs some tweaks to remotely shine and there are some spec compromises involved in sliding the tablet in under the £200 mark. However, we didn’t encounter any serious issues, making this the best affordable 8-inch iPad alternative you can get right now.

It's truly remarkable how far the Android tablet sector has come in recent months, and the LG G-Pad 8.3 is arguably one of the best small-screen slates we've seen so far. The larger screen, better design and expandable memory all help it put the Google Nexus 7 in the shade, and low retail price is also a massive plus point. A faster processor wouldn't have gone amiss, but that's a relatively small complaint when you look at the bigger picture. If you're in the market for a new Android tablet, then this should be near the top of your shopping list.

LG G Pad 8.3 is an interesting tablet made out of high-quality components that looks great. Unusual screen size and its resolution enable surprisingly large workspace which is much larger than its 7-inch cousins. At the same time, it weighs as much as they do, enabling prolonged usage without getting tired.

Google Nexus 7 vs LG G Pad 8.3 vs Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 review: What's the best small and cheap Android tablet?
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
Despite being the oldest tablet here, the Nexus 7 remains our top-pick. It's the best all-rounder but the other two contenders are still worth a shout. The G Pad feels the best and has some extra software features which are really handy. Lenovo's Yoga Tablet 8 is cheap, good looking and has a great design – just be prepared for lower grade hardware and performance if you opt for this one.

The G Pad 8.3 is undoubtedly LG's best tablet to date and at £199 it's a bit of a steal. A nice selection of hardware and software make this a great choice for a small tablet. However, occasionally laggy performance means the Nexus 7 might be a better choice.

This is a good, but just not exceptional, tablet. It's well built and nicely designed, and LG has dressed Android without taking it over. It's good that the G Pad gets away from the standard 7-inch screen size, but it means it's right up against the iPad mini in comparison terms. And since the arrival of the Retina display model, the mini shines a lot brighter than the LG G Pad can. LG at least has the edge when it comes to price and the additional versatility that a memory card slot offers.

70% LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition
Source: PC Mag English Archive.org version
The LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is a fine tablet, and basically the only stock Android tablet you can get with a microSD card slot—a feature conspicuously missing from every Nexus device, though somewhat stilted here. But beyond that, it doesn't make a compelling case for choosing it over the Nexus 7£132.99 at Amazon Marketplace, unless you absolutely need a bigger canvas to work on. And hate LG's skin all you want, but the Google Play Edition misses out on some genuinely useful features on the original G Pad. There's also no price break between the original G Pad and the Google Play Edition, so this is really just for die-hard stock Android fans. Even then, I'd recommend saving the $120 and going with the Nexus 7.

The LG G Pad represents a strong return to the tablet market for LG. We hope the firm carries on making devices of this calibre - it feels premium thanks to top build quality and has enough strong features to make it well worthy of consideration - but that will, of course, depend on how well it sells. So it's over to you, dear reader. But that's a reflection of our thoughts, and others will disagree because optimal tablet size is a matter of personal taste. If you want something a bit different, that's bigger than a Nexus 7, smaller than an iPad mini and a noticeable amount smaller than one of the many 10-inch tablets out there then the G Pad could be the one for you.

The G Pad 8.3 comes with 16GB of internal memory but a microSD card slot obviously allows users to expand the on-board storage. The G Pad 8.3 is a Wi-Fi only tablet, so there's no 3G or 4G models available in Australia. The G Pad 8.3 has a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls. Like most tablet cameras, LG seems to have considered image and video capture an afterthought.

Source: TechHive.com English Archive.org version
But the tablet is still too mediocre in some areas to warrant its relatively high price point (it's about $350 at Best Buy). The battery hardly lasts a day on a full charge and the interface takes a bit of work before you get into its groove. LG was looking to tackle the premium tablet market with the G Pad, but it might do better next time if it declutters its interface and sticks to something a little more simple.

If you're in the market for a smaller sized tablet then the Google Nexus 7 is still the pick of the bunch, but if you fancy a little more screen and can stretch your budget a little further the G Pad 8.3 is a solid shout. The LG Pad 8.3 is one of the best tablets in the 8-inch sector, but with the iPad mini 2 soon to be released there will be some serious competition to contend with.

We love unexpected gadget champs and the G Pad 8.3 sure is one of those. Gorgeous hardware, especially in white, one of the best screens we’ve come across on a tablet of any size and accomplished day-to-day performance and battery life. Throw in the microSD expandability, sorely lacking on some key rivals, and that £260 price doesn’t look as high as it might at first seem. If you approach the G Pad 8.3 with eyes already open to the shortcomings of Android tablet apps, you won’t be disappointed.

Source: Ubergizmo English English Archive.org version
The LG G Pad 8.3 is a very good tablet, and if I had to boil it down, I would say that the amazing display and some of the LG customization (like the remote control) may be sway factors. However, it is priced high enough ($349) to make it a non-obvious sale. With the 32GB Nexus 7 priced at $269 and the 32GB iPad mini retina priced at $499, LG sits in a middle ground with a path that is difficult to predict.

The $379 Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 delivers everything you find here plus pressure-sensitive pen support, which actually makes a big difference. We recommend it over the very similar G Pad, unless you really can't think of ever using the pen. Our top picks for small Android tablets are much less expensive than these models, as long as you can do without an SD card slot and multi-window multitasking, which are, admittedly, big "ifs." The $229 Amazon Kindle Fire HDX$229.00 at Amazon is the easiest-to-use tablet on the market. And the $229 Google Nexus 7 is powerful, flexible and slimmer. The Nexus 7's amazing balance of price and performance keeps it our Editors' Choice for small tablets.

LG G Pad 8.3 hands-on review: A crack at the Nexus 7, Galaxy Note 8.0 and iPad mini
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
LG's latest stab at the tablet market is the G Pad 8.3 which will compete with the iPad mini and Nexus 7. Here's our hands-on review of the LG G Pad 8.3 from IFA 2013. The name of the G Pad 8.3 signifies not only the size of the screen but how thin it is, 8.3 mm. The tablet joins the G2 smartphone in the G Series of products and has a similar and stylish design, but doesn't have its buttons on the back. We prefer the black model over the white alternative, but both have a predominately aluminium rear cover.

LG G Pad 10.1 V700

The LG G Pad 10.1 is a beautifully crafted tablet with comfortably curved edges with a clean silhouette and good ergonomics. LG has put some thought behind the design of the device as the thicker side bezel allows users to easily grip the large format screen. The 523 g device comes in black and is nicely textured for extra grip. Sporting a 10.1 inch IPS display panel with 16:10 aspect ratio and HD technology, the LG G Pad 10.1 is an ideal multimedia tablet. The hardware consist of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB DDR2L RAM and 16 GB internal storage. There is an option to increase internal storage using a microSD card. Audio quality is decent with the internal stereo speakers but do not expect too much out of them. The LG G Pad 10.1 comes with a rear-facing 5 MP camera and a 1.3 MP secondary shooter. Other features include Bluetooth 4.0 BLE and GPS while the entire system is powered by a Lithium Polymer battery rated at 8000 mAh. The LG G Pad 10.1 can run up to 8 hours making it a good bang for the buck tablet.

Déjà-vu. LG's G Pad 10.1 looks a lot like its smaller brother, the G Pad 8.0. The equipment is almost identical, and the only obvious difference is the larger screen. Again LG opts for limited performance and a long battery life in this case. However, the review sample tends to dim the brightness when it gets too warm.

If you're in the market for a top-of-the-line Android tablet, the G Pad 10.1 is almost certainly going to leave you feeling deflated. It has a decidedly underwhelming processor, a dour design and a low-resolution screen, all of which make it feel second best to leading Android tabs.

There’s nothing wrong with LG’s 10.1 inch G Pad, other than the fact that it really has nothing strong going for it. This isn’t designed in the same image of the light and super-thin Ultra PC we saw earlier in the year, and it’s not cut from the same mould that produced the excellent benchmark setting G3 smartphone either.

LG G Pad 10.1 review
Source: Stuff TV English Archive.org version
10-inch Android tablets have gone quite quiet of late, and it’s good to see a new, affordable model like the LG G Pad 10.1 arrive. However, we’re not sure it has its priorities in the right place. Extras such as NFC, IR transmitters and dual cameras should come below screen quality in the pecking order. And while every other tablet class seems to be obsessed with pixel density, the LG 10.1 display is very low-res.

The highlight of the LG G Pad 10.1 is its epic battery life, which gives this $250 tablet enough endurance to last all day. LG also adds some neat features, such as dual-window multitasking and the QPair smartphone pairing app. While the G Pad's performance isn't blazing, it's in the same ballpark as other 10-inch budget tablets.

The G Pad 10.1 is a far better value than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, but if you're productivity-minded, you'd be wise to check out the Asus Transformer Pad TF103C$288.63 at Amazon, which matches the G Pad in performance, but includes a useful keyboard dock, all for $299. If you want the best tablet experience around and can spend a good deal more, we still recommend the Apple iPad Air$499.00 at Apple Store, our reigning Editors' Choice, while the Galaxy Tab S 10.5Best Price at Amazon is our favorite Android pick.

LG G Pad 10.1 review: Inching along
Source: GSM Arena English Archive.org version
Going for a 10-inch tablet but not in the mood to splash out? Maybe you just want a big screen to idle the hours away on the couch or you feel your 5" smartphone isn't doing your YouTube feed any justice? The LG G Pad 10.1 has got you covered - it's reasonably priced and an adequate performer. LG isn't making a big fuss over its latest G Pads and that may be a mistake. Perhaps the company fears their less than stellar record with tablets will come back to haunt them, or perhaps the current G Pad lineup is supposed to just fill in the blanks in the lower midrange before an upgrade of the G Pad 8.3 hopefully turns up.

LG G Pad 7.0

LG is getting into the tablet game with a few different tablets. Their G Pad 7.0 is the smallest of their current line and is targeted towards the budget-conscious consumer. It sports a 7-inch IPS display with a native resolution of 1280 x 800. The resolution is nothing to shout about but it won't look too bad on a 7-inch screen. The IPS technologie ensures good viewing angles and nice colors.

The tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 400 chipset provides solid enough performance for normal use. The lack of RAM doesn't help with multitasking, but normal web browsing and standard apps run well enough. However, running high-quality 3D games are not possible.

The LG comes with 8 GB of storage, not much but manageable. The camera options are 3.15 MP for the rear and 1.3 MP for the front. The Optimus UI's signature feature, knocking to unlock, is available here. While the LG G Pad 7.0 is not going to blow any of its competition out of the water, it's a very affordable option to consider.

The G Pad 7.0 is a decent choice if you're seeking portability in a tablet. It's about the size of a book and is therefore easy to slip into your bag. While it maintains parity with the G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1 in some respects, the lower internal memory and weaker main camera make it a less appealing prospect, purely when it comes to specifications. To be brutally honest, the 8.0 model is only slightly larger and doesn't cost a great deal more – it's arguably the smarter choice, even if it's not quite as portable.

The LG G Pad 7.0 is not the kind of tablet that’s going to get pulses racing. It’s a low-cost device, and there are signs of that, particularly in its screen. However, it also gets you a bunch of features not often seen in smaller tablets. The IR transmitter gives it lounge skills missing from the Nexus 7, multi-tasking is given a lot of promotion for a tablet this small and it can pair with your phone for extra notifications juice.

The G Pad 7.0 is a solid enough tablet product, but simultaneously feels like a disappointment compared to last year's G Pad success. It's not going to steal the Nexus 7 crown by any means, but that's to compare it against the wrong rank. In the world of Asus MeMo Pad 7 and Tesco Hudl the LG G Pad 7.0 holds its own. It's a solid product that would make a decent coffee-table tablet for the whole family.

The LG G Pad 7.0 makes a few compromises to achieve its low price, but overall it's a pretty good bargain. The tablet boasts a vivid 1280 x 800 screen, outstanding audio quality and epic battery life, all for the very reasonable cost of $150. However, LG did make some trade-offs to hit this budget price: Photos and videos look grainy and washed out, and the tablet delivers middling performance compared with other 7-inch slates.

The LG G Pad 7.0 doesn't do a lot to stand out from the crowded field of small-screen tablets, but some unique and useful software features coupled with an aggressive price give it a leg up on competitors. Spec for spec, it's the Galaxy Tab 4's equal, but Samsung charges $50 more, and I'd argue LG's software execution is superior. The G Pad 7.0 offers great value if you can deal with relatively modest performance and a simply average display. Our Editors' Choice for small screen tablets remains the Google Nexus 7, which has a sharper full HD panel and stock Android experience with guaranteed timely updates.

LG G Pad 7.0 review: Back at it
Source: GSM Arena English Archive.org version
Any way you look at the G Pad 7.0 it's hard to find much to frown at. Not much to get excited about either - after all the Nexus 7 had the exact same specs two years ago. 7-inchers have since been trying to beat Google's price without making too much compromise. Well, they're finally getting there. HD resolution on a 7" diagonal is the new entry level in tablets, at still a safe distance from Apple and with no dime-a-dozen WSVGA devices from white label manufacturers crowding the space. If you're shopping for your first tablet, the LG G Pad 7.0 is very much an option but so are a bunch of tablets from of Samsung, Acer, Asus and Huawei.

Chicken-breasted long-distance runner. LG offers an 8-inch tablet for less than 200 Euros (~$254) that has an excellent battery life dubbed G Pad 8.0. However, the runtimes are at the expense of having a weak SoC, which is usually found in entry-level smartphones, among other things. Nevertheless, Android 4.4 KitKat and known software features from LG help make the tablet an interesting product.

Like its larger sibling, the G Pad 10.1, the G Pad 8.0 has been forced to endure some compromises in order to hit its impressively low price point. The sluggish Snapdragon 400 chipset often struggles to keep up, and the overall experience is generally skittish.

The LG G Pad F 8.0 inch is a tablet with solid build quality and has many tricks up its sleeve. As a free add-on to a purchase, the LG G Pad F 8.0 might be a fine thing to give to your toddler, or to use as a backup device for its always-on 4G LTE connection. But as a $199 8-inch tablet, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The $199 Asus ZenPad S 8 is more powerful and offers a better display, while the Amazon Fire HD 8 lasts longer on a charge and offers a more color- accurate screen, for $50 less.

LG:

LG Electronics Inc. is a subsidiary of LG Group. It is a South Korean company and was founded as Goldstar Co, Ltd, in 1958. The group offers products in the fields of information technology, consumer electronics and mobile communications, and home appliances. LG Electronics is the world's third largest home appliance manufacturer. As a notebook manufacturer, LG only became known to a wider audience in the German-speaking market in 2005. After a few years, LG largely withdrew from the laptop sector. The product range includes OLED, LED/LCD and plasma TVs, home theater systems, Blu-ray players as well as audio and video players.

7.00:

This display format is in the mid-range for smartphones. It offers a compromise between good visibility, details and resolution on the screen, and you can still fit it into trouser pockets.

8.00:

Large smartphones and a few small tablets are available for this display size. Unlike most smartphones, you can see more on the screen, more details and use larger resolutions. Such formats are better for people with defective vision. However, such devices are no longer easy to fit in a pocket, and they are probably not quite light either.
