Unlike most other M.2 SSDs out there, the Kingston NV1 series will share the same read and write rates across all three 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities for a more consistent level of performance no matter the SKU.

More well-known for its lineup of affordable 2.5-inch SATA III SSDs, the company has since expanded into M.2 drives like the KC2500 and A2000. Now, Kingston is ready to expand its selection of M.2 drives even further with the launch of the NV1 NVMe PCI SSD.

The NV1 will come in 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities each with three-year warranty as standard. Each version will also support the same theoretical maximum read and write rates of 2100 MB/s and 1700 MB/s, respectively, compared to 2000 MB/s and 2500 MB/s on the pricier 500 GB A2000 and KC2500, respectively.

Kingston hasn't stated when the NV1 series will actually start shipping or what prices users can expect. A quick search on Amazon or Newegg at the time of writing shows no signs of the NV1. It'll likely be a few more days or weeks before the SSDs become widely available online.

The SSD is designed for use in desktop and notebook computer workloads and is not intended for Server environments.1 Based on “out-of-box performance” using a PCIe 3.0 motherboard. Speed may vary due to host hardware, software, and usage.2 Some of the listed capacity on a Flash storage device is used for formatting and other functions and thus is not available for data storage. As such, the actual available capacity for data storage is less than what is listed on the products. For more information, go to Kingston’s Flash Memory Guide at kingston.com/flashguide.3 Total Bytes Written (TBW) is derived from the JEDEC Client Workload (JESD219A).4 Limited warranty based on 3 years or “Percentage Used” which can be found using the Kingston SSD Manager (Kingston.com/SSDManager). For NVMe SSDs, a new unused product will show a Percentage Used value of 0, whereas a product that reaches its warranty limit will show a Percentage Used value of greater than or equal to one hundred (100).
