Kaby Lake powered Cube Mix Plus now available for pre-order
Chinese manufacturer Cube, known for the i7 Stylus and i7 Book, has begun taking pre-orders for their new Cube Mix Plus, a laptop/tablet hybrid powered by an Intel Kaby Lake processor.
The tiny device packs some modest components. In addition to a detachable 10.6-inch 1920x1080 IPS display, the 2-in-1 is equipped with the following:
- Dual-core Intel Core m3-7Y30 (1.61 GHz base / 2.6 GHz boost clock) with hyperthreading and 4 MB of L3 cache
- Intel HD 615 onboard graphics (capable of H.265 and CP9 encoding/decoding)
- 4 GB of RAM
- 128 GB SSD
The device can be docked on a keyboard base that includes a trackpad. The keyboard dock will be sold separately.
For connectivity, the Mix Plus sports a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a micro USB 3.0 port, and a microSD card reader. The keyboard base will provide two more USB Type-A ports, although it is unknown whether these are USB 2.0, 3.0, or 3.1.
Powering everything is a relatively small 4300 mAH battery that's quoted at up to 4 hours of use, which is not very long. Rounding out the feature set are a 5 MP rear-facing camera, a 2 MP front-facing camera, 802.11 a/g/b/n dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.
The device will come with both Windows 10 and Android pre-installed. It is currently available for pre-order through Gearbeast for US $475. Shipping dates have yet to be announced.
