We've previously reported on manufacturer Hubsan, which has various drones on offer in the form of quadcopters. A new model, the Hubsan Mini, could be an alternative to similar models from DJI and is currently available for import. The asking price is just under $429 directly from the manufacturer (currently out of stock at the time of writing). For this price, customers receive the drone with two batteries. As usual, local warranty rights are unlikely to be enforceable in the event of a claim.
The stated takeoff weight is around 260 grams, only just exceeding the 250-gram legal limit for recreational drone flying in many countries. According to Hubsan, a maximum flight time of 45 minutes at flight speed of 25km/h is possible, provided there is no wind. The model is equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor, mounted on a gimbal and capable of recording videos in 3,840 x 2,160 resolution at 30 frames per second. At a resolution of 2,720 x 1,530 and higher, videos can also be recorded at 60 frames per second. Photos can be captured in 5,472 x 3,648 resolution.
The signal range is specified as 16 kilometers (around 10 miles). The drone can be controlled not only via direct control commands, but also indirectly via GPS. Visual tracking of people is also supported, and the model is also supposedly capable of obstacle detection without the need for manual user intervention. Lastly, a microSD card is used for data storage.
