A noted tipster has reported that Huawei will be using the “floating screen technology” that is expected to feature with the upcoming Huawei MateBook X Pro 2020 laptop in a cutting-edge smart TV that will be unveiled by the end of 2020. The so-called floating full-screen design means to eliminate bezels and device frames as much as possible.

Total bezel elimination seems to have been at the forefront of the design plans for many OEMs over recent years as they start to disappear on smartphones and laptops alike. It appears Huawei has similar ideas for its smart TVs too, with a rumor stating that there will be a Huawei TV unveiled before the end of the year that demonstrates “floating screen technology”.

The term is used to basically describe a display that is not constrained by bezels or a frame. While smartphone manufacturers have been pursuing this ethos for years now, with laptop designers not too far behind, it has been harder to implement with large televisions. However, now Xiaomi has a transparent TV to boast of, rivals need their own unique selling points, and it seems Huawei wants to offer a smart TV with a floating full screen.

Similar devices have already been shown to the public, with the 65-inch TCL Huaxing display wowing viewers with its “full suspension screen”. Huawei will supposedly be showing off the floating full-screen design with its 2020 MateBook X Pro laptop first, and then according to Digital Chat Station the company should have a narrow-bordered or even completely bezel-less smart TV, which would have an even more minimal frame to it than the impressive Vision X65, to reveal before the year is over.
