While Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 may be the most-awaited foldable of the year, it's expected to be beaten to the punch by Honor and its Magic V5. Reportedly, the Honor foldable phone will outstrip the Galaxy Z Fold7 in one other department too.
As reported by Smart Pikachu, Honor plans to launch the Magic V5 this month. For those not in the know, the Magic V5 will launch as a direct successor to last year's Magic V3, with Honor skipping the "V4" thanks to the inauspiciousness of the number "4" in Chinese culture.
Reportedly, the Honor Magic V5 will arrive with a battery in the 6,000mAh range, effectively making it the foldable with the largest battery yet. The closest to that were last year's Tecno Phantom V Fold2 with a 5,750 mAh battery, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro with its 5,700 mAh unit, and the OPPO Find N5 from earlier this year with a 5,600 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to retain its uncompetitive 4,400 mAh battery.
In addition to a massive battery, the Honor Magic V5 is tipped to feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and will also be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite.
