Here are all the slowest and fastest GeForce RTX 3080 laptops you can buy right now

Annoyingly, the mobile GeForce RTX 3080 can range from 80 W to 155 W on laptops leading to performance differences between models with lower and higher power envelopes. Based on our time with several RTX 3080 laptops thus far, the performance delta can be quite noticeable in some titles between the slowest and fastest RTX 3080 laptops.

Our 3DMark scores below show that the large 17.3-inch MSI GE76 and its 155 W RTX 3080 GPU is about 35 to 40 percent faster than the smaller 15.6-inch Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 and its 100 W RTX 3080 GPU. This difference translates to some games like Witcher 3 while other games like DOTA 2 and GTA V have much narrower differences of just a few percentage points between the two laptops. We suspect that titles that are more influenced by the CPU may be responsible for the varying performance gaps.

Another interesting observation is that the Razer Blade Pro 17, which uses an Intel CPU and 100 W RTX 3080, performs much closer to the MSI GE76 than it does to the Zephyrus G15.

Major manufacturers have yet to launch their GeForce RTX 3080 "big guns" like the massive MSI GT76, Asus G703 Chimera, or Dell Alienware Area-51m laptops. These thick models prioritize cooling over thinness and so they should theoretically run the RTX 3080 even faster than these early RTX 3080 laptops. We'll just have to wait and see how far laptops can push the mobile RTX 3080 given its generally underwhelming performance when compared to the desktop counterpart of the same name.
