HTC releases limited edition U Ultra
HTC released a limited-edition U Ultra with 128GB of memory and a sapphire-covered display yesterday. This ends the week-long wait after HTC Taiwan's Facebook page posted a vague teaser about an upcoming device. Those who were hoping for an entirely new device will be disappointed, as other than the afore mentioned upgrades and a $150 price premium, the new U Ultra is virtually identical to the normal model. Even the color options are identical between the two versions.
Oddly enough, HTC has decided to release the limited-edition device in Taiwan only, at least for the time being. Those who live elsewhere must resort to resellers and importers to get their hands on one of these phones. While the hardware is very similar to the normal U Ultra, the limited-edition does include a few special accessories. A wallet style case, Quick Charge 3.0 battery bank, and a wrist strap that HTC advertises as a $100 bonus bundle are included in their own special case. Whether consumers will find this slightly updated phone and accessory bundle worth the extra $150 over the standard U Ultra remains to be seen. However, the Taiwan only release hints that HTC doesn't expect the device to be wildly popular.
