HTC U11 Life on T-Mobile gets Oreo update

HTC U11 Life Android flagship gets Oreo update on T-Mobile

Not long after the first unlocked HTC U11 Life units received Android 8.0, these handsets on T-Mobile receive the Oreo update as well.

The mid-range HTC U11 Life has been around for a while on T-Mobile, so those units did not ship with Android 8.0 Oreo as their Android One siblings. However, the unlocked non-Android One units received the update a few weeks ago, and now the time has come for T-Mobile's HTC U11 Life to get the new software as well.

As you probably know already, the jump from Android Nougat to Oreo is not that impressive, since the interface changes are minor. However, there are quite a few goodies to enjoy, such as picture-in-picture mode and adaptive notification dots, all with HTC Sense on top.

According to a screenshot that surfaced on the well-known XDA Developers forum, the software update that brings Oreo to HTC U11 Life units on T-Mobile has 1.32 GB in size and carries the version number 2.15.531.6. As usual, those who are planning to update should be sure the battery is at least 40 percent charged and connecting to a WiFi network to ensure a higher download speed is highly recommended.

The 5.2-inch HTC U11 Life is quite an attractive mid-ranger. Its highlights include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, an IP67-rated plastic body, NFC connectivity, and a front-facing fingerprint reader. Sadly, the lack of a 3.5 mm audio jack made many potential buyers go for other handsets, although the HTC U11 Life comes with 24-bit/192 kHz audio.
