The Omen series is expanding with GTX 1060/1070 options for notebooks and 1080 options for the Omen X desktop. New SteelSeries accessories are coming as well with availability beginning this September.

Not to be outdone by Lenovo, HP will be updating its own series of Omen gaming devices with Nvidia Pascal hardware. The new portfolio includes the desktop Omen X with GTX 1080 graphics and the VR Ready 17.3-inch Omen 17 notebook with GTX 1060/1070 options. HP has also unveiled a curved display that will be the first from the manufacturer to offer G-Sync support.

At about 3.2 kg, the Omen 17 includes G-Sync options with a chassis thickness of about 32.9 mm. HP will bring Bang & Olufsen speakers and a mini DisplayPort that can support external displays of up to 4K. The notebook will launch in Europe this September for around 1600 Euros and will offer a major boost in performance compared to the current crop of Omen notebooks with GTX 965M graphics.

HP has detailed at least one Omen 17 SKU for U.S. consumers. The Omen 17-w151nr will ship with a Core i7-6700HQ CPU, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and a GTX 1070 with 8 GB GDDR5 RAM. The complete specifications sheet is provided below.

Prices and availability of upcoming Omen devices according to HP:

  • The Omen X desktop is coming this September for 2499 Euros while the barebones case will retail for 599 Euros.
  • The Omen X curved display will not come until early 2017.
  • The Omen 17 will launch this September for 1599 Euros.
