CES 2013 is just around the corner and it is the time of year when we get to see or hear about new and exciting products, services or technologies. The US firm Hewlett Packard has already joined the party by announcing a laptop with touch capability, called Pavilion TouchSmart Sleekbook and one a bit more conventional ultra-portable notebook, dubbed Pavilion Sleekbook.

Measuring 0.9-inch at its thickest point, the TouchSmart model is equipped with a 10-finger multi-touch 15.6-inch HD display and is powered by an AMD A8 accelerated processing unit (APU). It houses up to 1TB of storage space and 6 – to 8GB of RAM. The Pavilion Sleekbook is apparently 0.82-inch thick and offers an AMD A6 chip, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB mechanical hard drive.

According to the manufacturer, the two lightweight laptops come with Wireless LAN 802.11n modules, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, HDMI connectivity, TrueVision HD web cameras for video conferencing and a choice between integrated or optional discrete AMD Radeon graphics cards.

Reportedly, HP’s latest portable devices are based on Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system and feature full-size keyboards, HP CoolSense technology that presumably keeps your laptop cool; one removable battery and Dolby Advanced Audio.

The HP Pavilion Sleekbook will hit the store shelves in the United States on January 13 for $480, whereas the Pavilion TouchSmart Sleekbook will be available on February 3, priced at $650.
