This portable business computer is dubbed 6465b and will offer up to an AMD A6 CPU

The US PC manufacturer Hewlett-Packard is the next company to release an AMD Llano-based unit. The ProBook 6465b reportedly offers a modern, stylish design and is targeted towards mobile professionals.  It is also the maker’s first portable business computer to sport the new AMD chipset and will provide its future owners with up to a Quad-Core AMD CPU complemented by an integrated Radeon HD graphics controller.

Configuration

The new ProBook will supposedly have a starting weight of 2.12kg and will measure 338 x 231.3 x 34 mm. Customers can purchase this laptop with a latest generation Llano processor in form of either an AMD A4-3310MX or an AMD A6-3410MX APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). The first houses two cores, whereas the latter is a quad-core (four threads) chip clocked at 1.6GHz (can be increased up to 2.3GHz via TurboCore) that delivers 64-bit support, 45W max. TDP and 4MB of Level 2 cache.

The LED-backlit Anti-Glare widescreen display has a diagonal of 14 inches and a native HD+ resolution of 1600-by-900 pixels. In addition, the 6465b ships with an integrated AMD Radeon HD 6520G that operates at 400MHz and utilizes shared VRAM.

Customers will find an AMD A60M FCH chipset under the hood, which can support up to 16GB of internal DDR3 memory. In terms of storage options, this HP ProBook will presumably pack up to a 500GB mechanical hard drive (HDD, 7200rpm) or up to a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD). A Blu-Ray drive is also part of the standard configuration.

Connectivity

The built-in Broadcom 802.11 b/g/n, optional 3G, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and Realtek LAN modules will keep you connected. Moreover, there are four USB ports (one is an eSATA combo), HDMI and VGA output, FireWire, DisplayPort and a memory card reader slot.

For your video conferencing needs, HP has reportedly installed an HD web camera.

Other specs, pricing and availability

The new 6465b business notebook will come pre-loaded with a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional operating system. Further features include a 6-cell Lithium-ion battery, spill-resistant keyboard, an SRS Premium Sound with built-in stereo speakers and a number of dedicated functional keys.

HP’s latest ProBook is now available to customers for order and has a starting price of US $679.
