Teaser
Google debuts its popular video and voice chat for Android, but you need Gingerbread

Google makes available its popular video and voice chat service for Android with the help of which you can make calls over your Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G connection.

But there is a critical requirement – you need to be on gingerbread or Android 2.3 to be able to avail this service. So those devices on Android 2.2 like the Samsung Galaxy Tab will have to wait till it gets a software update. It is not knows whether this service will be available on Honeycomb as well. It is important to know because a lot of Android devices coming this year should have Google tablet specific OS onboard.

Google is expected to start with Samsung Nexus S and then move on slowly to other devices. In the meantime, sources say that the Cyanogen Mod can facilitate an unofficial Gingerbread upgrade.
