People familiar with the matter claim the 5.9-inch Nexus 6 phablet will launch this month, but Google is still silent about it.

The next-gen Google Nexus smartphone/phablet has been in the rumor mill for a long time, and recent reports claim the handset could arrive later this month. While an exclusive report by Android Authority suggests that Nexus 6 "will likely be unveiled alongside the Nexus 9 on either October 15th or the 16th," industry insiders who spoke to The Wall Street Journal only mentioned the device will launch this month.

No less than three "people familiar with the situation" told The Wall Street Journal that the 5.9-inch Nexus 6, also known as "Shamu" (the name of a notorious killer whale) will arrive this month. These sources also revealed that the Nexus 6 is manufactured by Motorola Mobility. If the actual product has the same size as rumored, Nexus 6 will be larger than both Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus, which have 5.7 and 5.5 inches.

According to the same report mentioned above, "Google hopes to deliver a Nexus phone that rivals the iPhone 6 Plus on display quality but at a lower price." If Android Authority is right, we may find out everything about this new phablet next week, so stay tuned.
