AMD is already preparing to launch the Ryzen 5000 APU series, yet Gigabyte is a bit late to the party with some Ryzen 4000 PCs. Better late than never, as they say. The recent teaser from Gigabyte does not specify the exact processors, but we can expect up to a Ryzen 7 4800U. There will also be support for Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5 Gbps LAN connections.

Gigabyte is among the fewest mini PC makers that have not yet made the jump to the latest Renoir APUs, but this is about to change soon, as the company recently teased the upcoming Renoir versions of its BRIX lineup. Gigabyte is currently offering only AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 models plus a few variants with the old Richland APUs released back in 2013.

We are not exactly sure when these Renoir versions are going to actually be available, seeing that the Intel Tiger Lake BRIX series featuring Core i3-1115G, Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7 processors announced a while back are still nowhere to be found. Nevertheless, the teaser for the Renoir BRIX mini PCs mentions that there will be processor options with up to 8 cores / 16 threads, so the series most likely tops out with a Ryzen 7 4800U. Unless Gigabyte is actually referring to the newly announced Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors with Zen 2 cores. The teaser also specifies that these new models will come in slim or tall barebone kits, in case users need more flexibility with the storage solutions. The graphics side will be handled by the updated 7 nm Vega iGPUs that support 4x 4K video outputs, and Gigabyte will also provide pre-installed Wi-Fi 6 modules, plus support for 2.5 Gbps LAN connections. Unfortunately, the only disadvantage for these models will still remain the absence of Thunderbolt connectors.

We are hoping that Gigabyte could adjust the pricing on these new models, as the BRIX series powered by Intel CPUs is generally known to be quite expensive compared to other brands.
