Gear S2 iOS beta program begins

Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch now offers iOS compatibility in beta stage

After a long delay, it looks like both the Gear S2 and the Gear Fit 2 are now compatible with iOS devices, at least as part of a beta program.

Bringing iOS support to the Gear S2 smartwatch lineup is something Samsung promised in late 2015 and, this spring, the iOS beta program was apparently only a few days away. Unfortunately, it took more than just a few days or weeks until Samsung has finally offered support for Apple devices to those using its smart wearables.

One reason for this delay might be the launch of Samsung's new fitness and activity tracker, Gear Fit 2, which was also added to the list of iOS-supported devices. This way, the iOS beta program supports both the Gear S2 smartwatch and the Gear Fit 2 smart wearable. Taking part in it is voluntary, and the feedback of those involved is being used by Samsung to improve the Gear Manager app for iOS.

According to SamMobile, the program will run until mid-September. In addition to the Samsung wearables mentioned above, those who want to join the program need an iPhone loaded with iOS 8.4 or later.
