A new Garmin update, beta version 17.06, is now available for two of the brand’s smartwatches. It addresses a recent issue linked to the built-in flashlight, which was not acting as expected. It has been pushed OTA to eligible users, but can also be manually triggered using Garmin Express.

Garmin has released a beta update specifically for the Instinct 2X Solar and Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition smartwatches. Version 17.06 arrives around a month after the last release in this testing cycle, version 17.05, which brought bug fixes for issues with the Wallet, maps and Open Water Activities.

Beta version 17.06 tackles a problem with the flashlight, hence why it is only offered to users of Instinct 2X series wearables. Recently, users had reported that the strobe light would stay on when they exited an activity, rather than switching off automatically as expected. This bug is fixed with the beta update; a similar update, beta version 10.36, addressed this issue for users of the Instinct 3 AMOLED and Instinct 3 Solar smartwatches.

The Garmin beta version 17.06 update is available for all eligible users of the Instinct 2X smartwatches (Solar Graphite curr. $307.90 at Amazon). The release should have been pushed to devices automatically when connected to Garmin Connect Manager. However, you can also receive the update when you sync with Garmin Express.
